Haynes Furniture Company Visual Merchandising Manager in Virginia Beach, Virginia

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for overall display, placement and pricing of merchandise and display in the store. Manage all aspects of visual presentation; responsible for execution of merchandise and visual initiative as communicated by Buying and the Director of Stores. Enhance the display of furniture to maximize sales.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to the Store Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with internal business partners to produce the most effective visual settings to achieve the desired look, including determining an appropriate floor plan, lightening, color scheme and accessory styling etc

  • Execute plan-o-gram, utilizing available set parts of walls, windows, fireplaces and other architectural elements. Research new ideas that could be developed for use in designing settings, maintain current product, style and fashion knowledge

  • Responsible for new product flow, tagging and displays; process discontinued product to maintain current assortment, processes. Maintain showroom to Corporate Visual Standard.

  • Assist sales staff with merchandising and inventory issues, monitor zones for acceptable standards.

  • Timely communication of in-coming and discontinued product to effectively move inventory

  • Manage and lead all aspects of the Visual Team. Hire, train and direct hourly associates.

  • Manage productivity of direct reports, process payroll and attendance management for direct reports.

  • Assign schedules to meet the business needs; provide calendar communication to teams.

  • Responsible for housekeeping/physical safety /OSHA Complaint in facilities

  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available, as needed, to work evenings, holidays, and weekends, with or without advance notices.

  • Conducts annual staff reviews, process payroll and attendance management for direct reports.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in weekly Ad call and coordinate the product launches and buying initiatives

  • Provides designers with styles and price points for proper category placement

  • Works assortment and/or un-sampled report, flow and age clearance product to The Dump.

  • Views all products transferred to the showroom and places Storis tags on them.

  • Ensures all movement of product complies with appropriate inventory procedures.

  • Order and maintain stock levels for tagging supplies.

  • Responsible for keeping files in merchandise office until a physical inventory is done

  • Schedules and supervises physical inventories once a year and cycle count as needed.

  • Understands and adheres to Company Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Policy and Procedures manual

  • Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management

Some travel required plus some overnight stays.

TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT USED ON THE JOB: General office equipment, computer walkie-talkie, hammer and other tools and ladder when necessary.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Education: 4 year degree in Visual or Interior Design preferred and/or equivalent experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years management experience

  • Skills: Excellent communication and writing skills; strong interpersonal skill and knowledge of PC necessary, including word processing and Excel. Ability to read and execute on plan-o-grams.
