Coordinates clinical activities of the assigned unit to assure optimum quality patient care. Responsibilities include the appropriate assignment and supervision of nursing resources, oversight of patient care and clinical activities, quality improvement and staff development. Plans and directs care for patients with complex patient care problems. Identifies staff and patient education needs and coordinates appropriate resources. Assumes leadership skills in team building, delegation, communication, and conflict management. Knowledgeable in performance improvement and continuous improvement in work processes and outcomes. Demonstrates a strong customer driven approach in the management of areas of responsibility. Serves as a role model for professional and clinical practice. Integrates the Mission and Values into operational management of the unit.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current registered nurse licensure to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other health related discipline preferred.
Minimum of three years clinical experience preferable in area of specialty of responsibility.
Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
Demonstrated previous leadership experience.
Knowledge of Windows based computer systems and software.
An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
