Database Developer Sr (MS SQL Server/ Oracle)
Responsible for participating in all phases of the development and maintenance life cycle, typically for an assigned business unit, client program, or corporate department and utilizing various customer technology platforms. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Maintains active relationships with customers todetermine business requirements.
Collaborates with engineers and graphicdesigners, analyzes and classifies complex change request and reviews andevaluates possible enhancements.
Works with development team to develop anddefine application scope and objectives and prepare functional and/or technicalspecifications.
Analyzes and evaluates detailed business andtechnical requirements. Codes and maintains complex components of informationsystems.
Mentors others on coding standards and performscode reviews. Develops and performs system testing and fixes defects identifiedduring testing and re-executes unit tests to validate results.
Aids in integrating activities with other ITdepartments for successful implementation and support of project efforts.
Provides on call support and monitors the systemand identifies system deficiencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsiblefor participating in all phases of the software development and maintenancelife cycle. Provides feedback toowners for continuous improvement.
Collaborates with customers to determine businessrequirements. Leads requirement gathering meetings.
Works with the development team to develop and definethe scope of applications and objectives, and to define functional and/ortechnical specifications.
Prepares technical and/or functional specifications fromwhich programs will be written; guides less senior developers in preparation offunctional specifications.
Applies broad knowledge of various technical functionsto accurately anticipate organizational or cross application impacts.
Oversees and/or supports application design andimplement system functionality and performance enhancements.
Responsible for change requests throughout the entireprocess. Coordinates with other teams as necessary.
Supervises others on developing application internals;considers all alternatives and implements the best strategy to ensure designmeets performance, usability, reliability, and scalability requirements;performs code reviews.
Provides analysis and performs system/architecturaldesign, project planning, and coding.
Ensures system testing is completed and meets the testplan requirements.
Ensures system is implemented according to plan.
Ensures effective monitoring of system and that systemdeficiencies are resolved.
Maintains technical development environment.
Performs Run the Business (RTB) activities, i.e. fixingall the Anthem GBD Facets Disbursement system IT related issues that may comeup during the implementation phase. This also includes helping theapplication users in understanding the application and setting up theenvironment for them to make the application up and running.
Provides training to team members regarding softwaredesign, solutions, and coding standards.
Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to mediumsized projects. Facilitates group sessions to elicit complex informationon requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews, andtroubleshooting issues.
- Requires BA/BS degree or technical institutetraining; 3+ years’ experience on one platform, multi database, multi-languageor multi business application, or any combination of education and experience,which would provide an equivalent background. Incumbent should also have theability to mentor others, lead small projects and provide troubleshooting support.
