Certified Marine Aluminum Welder

Candidate will perform as the lead welder on a three-person production welding team that provides support for all welding and structural fabrication for the U.S. Navy’s Amphibious Warfare Program Office, PMS 377, serving as the subject matter expert in Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) welding processes on-site at either Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU 4), Little Creek, VA, or at Assault Craft Unit Five (ACU 4), Camp Pendleton, CA. This role will require the candidate to help develop less experienced Navy welders maximize their individual proficiency and to perform welding in accordance with the GTAW process on 5086 and 5456 series aluminum.


  • High school diploma or GED.


  • Ten years of aluminum welding experience.*

  • Current Aluminum Welder Certification.

  • Ability to perform initial aluminum Tungsten Inert Gas (GTAW) qualification and maintain it on a quarterly basis to include annual eye exams via J-1 Jaeger standard test and written level of knowledge exam every three years.

  • Current OSHA 10-Hour Maritime 7615 Course.

  • Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • No travel required.

One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
